Home Fire Restoration

Fire Damage

The most problematic of emergency restoration services, recovering from a fire is often an anxiety-filled process for the homeowner. A professional, knowledgeable and skilled contractor can eliminate that anxiety.

To insure a return to structural integrity and aesthetic appeal, a full restoration of the areas directly damaged by fire is usually required. Residual smoke and fire residue present health risks – particularly of a respiratory nature – and, without the most advanced tools and expertise, the residual odor after a fire can be nearly impossible to eliminate.

Without exception, all areas of contact must be thoroughly cleaned. To capture the minutest of residual fire damage particulates, professional fire restoration contractors use specialized equipment, such as HEPA vacuums and Ozone processors.  A concerned homeowner should only engage the services of fully credentialed fire damage restoration contractor with proper certifications and insurance.

To understate the fact: Fire damage restoration is a complex process.

Claim Rep

Standard home insurance policies cover most incidents of fire damage.  To competently contend with the claim process, contract with a qualified fire damage restoration provider to carry out an independent assessment and cost estimate.  Hopefully, you won't need it, but if legal action becomes necessary, it will be invaluable to your case to have that document on hand.

Prepare a complete visual record of the fire damage.  Shoot digital images from all angles. And don’t neglect the roof and utility wiring, pipes and other hardware. Notate and number the images.  Most professional fire restoration professional will handle this task of recording. It is their job to document the entire scene for use in future communications and possible negotiations with the insurance company.

Screening Contractors

Even a small fire can leave behind a significant and potentially unhealthy level of residual damage.  Smoke easily permeates furniture, clothing, electronics and ventilation systems. Depending on what materials and substances fueled the fire, Restorers may apply many and varying combinations of air and surface cleaning and sealing solutions.

Besides providing estimates and delivering services to thoroughly clean and deodorize a home or business, our team of professional fire damage restorers consult with the client as to which items can or cannot be refurbished.  The cost of restoration is typically much less than would be the cost of replacing damaged furnishings and structures.

Solutions and Solutions

Household textile soot is oily and easily stains carpets, draperies and other household items. Thus, soot is Job 1.  We strip it away before we begin to clean and deodorize items.  Our professional restorer's will remove most of the soot with a heavy-duty HEPA vacuum. The odor of smoke may remain in clothing, upholstered furniture, carpets and draperies unless they are properly deodorized before cleaning.

The specialized solutions and additives applied break up smoke residue at the molecular level to eliminate odors, and these counteractants are professionally applied to furniture, carpets and draperies.

It is sometimes necessary to apply an ozone treatment to break up smoke molecules and eliminate odors. If the process is done in the home, the affected items are covered by a tent while an ozone generator does its job.

After deodorizing, household textiles are completely cleaned.  We take non-washable clothing and draperies to the dry cleaning plant for a specialized cleaning process, as well as traditional dry cleaning.

Carpet Care

Carpets are cleaned twice: Both before and after repairs.  Wet carpets must be dried before cleaning.  In some cases, the complete removal of the carpet is required for a complete drying and to save the wood deck beneath.

Our team of certified restorers apply a wide range of restorative cleaning techniques to completely remove soot from walls.  We rely on non-water-based cleaners to wipe down walls and, in extreme cases, chemical sponges are applied.

Smoke may permeate walls and other seemingly non-porous surfaces, reaching into HVAC ductwork, where it is trapped and settles.  If not properly removed, the odor will remain.  This may be especially noticeable during warm or damp weather.

Our professional restorers apply odor neutralizing solutions by means of "thermal fogging." Following the path of the smoke, this warm chemical fog penetrates fine materials and solid walls, neutralizing the odor of the smoke.

For duct work, we use a chemical sealer to encase smoke permanently to the sides of ducts. Otherwise, these areas of inaccessible joints and crevices may be impossible to clean using conventional vacuum-and-brush methods.
